Colon Cleansing: Are All Colon Cleansing Products a Scam?

Colon Cleansing Explained
The best, most effective way to "cleanse" your system is to increase your intake of whole foods such as fruits, vegetables and fiber. Though there are many products on the market that claim they can clean out your digestive system and help you loose weight, you should steer clear of them. Any product that is marketed and called a "cleansing" product is considered, scientifically, to be scam.
Signs of Colon Health
- Clear skin without blemishes
- Daily elimination

- Elimination time between 18 and 24 hours

Where's the Proof?
Unfortunately there hasn't been any scientific or medical research to support the claims that these "cleansing" products have made. While you may have seen the pictures of the black looking gunk that comes out after a cleanse, rest assured that they are the same pictures used over and over again, and that it is only the people that use the cleansing products that pass such masses.
An Example of What Is NOT Proof:
"I have "proof" but it is from my own personal experience..." -- anonymous poster
If you are thinking that, "Naturally they are going to if they are using the product, that is the whole point," call your local gastroenterologist. Call any one of them, they do colonoscopies everyday. Ask them if they have ever scoped a person that had that "gunk" through their intestines.
The answer from them would be a resounding no. It is possible that the reason they do not see those things is due to the fact that prior to a colonoscopy you do an internal flush so that your colon is clean. So take it one step further, talk to a patient that has gone through the prep for a colonoscopy. What they will tell you is they spent hours in the bathroom and not once did a rope of black gunk come out of them.
Sensible Advice
Beware of any product that claims it will detoxify your body and cleanse your system by chance saving your life, instead spend your hard earned money on healthy foods such as organic fruits and vegetables, limit your red meat intake and make sure you are getting enough fiber. This will help you naturally "cleanse" your system everyday.
A healthy colon does not need to be cleansed or other such remedies.
If we treat our digestive system sensibly, it will work just fine. It doesn't normally need to be tampered with. By changing your diet, you'll enjoy the beneifts of being healthier and your body will be able to reduce the toxins naturally and your colon cleansing can occur naturally without such products.
If you do need some type of cleansing, seek professional medical advice, not an over the counter solution to what could be a serious medical problem.
People who have good solid healthy diets, do not have blockage nor do they need such colon cleansing products. If you do need such, you might wan to re-evaluate your nutrition.

Great Hub! I'm pretty sure all the "colon cleanse" products are just contain psyllium husk, which is the same thing included in any fiber supplement. It will make you go...that's for sure and people mistake this as a "cleanse".
People who eat correctly thru proper nutrition do not need these products and they don't have blockage. If there's a more serious medical conditional, seek medical advice of course.

I have been bombarded with colon cleanse offers in my inbox. Recently I've spent a few sleepless nights on the couch, also. In the middle of the night there are about 3 colon cleanse infomercials for every normal program. They're everywhere!
I agree that not all cleansing products are effective. Eating good food with lots of fibers can help detox your colon. No need to avail of those unreliable materials, not unless, it is advised by your doctor.
Great hub.
